Profile
Job Purpose:
To perform and monitor quality activities in accordance with company, regulatory, and client standards, ensuring consistent compliance and continuous improvement.
Job Summary
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing and supporting all project-based quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with company standards, contractual requirements, and applicable codes and specifications. The role involves continuous evaluation and improvement of QC processes, coordination of inspections and third-party services, and preparation and management of critical quality documentation such as PQRs, WPSs, and WQRs.
This position provides technical guidance to QC personnel, ensures proper execution of tests and inspections, monitors equipment calibration, and reports any deviations affecting project compliance. The specialist also maintains complete and accurate quality records, supports the implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and ensures full adherence to health, safety, and statutory regulations. Through close collaboration with Project Managers and stakeholders, the role contributes to the successful and compliant delivery of all project activities.
Knowledge
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
General understanding and familiarity with fabrication specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ASME B31.3).
General understanding and familiarity with NDE/NDT methods and reports (MT, PT, RT, UT).
General understanding of fabrication processes such as welding, cutting, forming, rolling, and related activities.
Knowledge of oil and gas industry processes and operations, including riser and capital drilling equipment.
Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12).
Welding Inspector Level II or CSWIP 3.1 certification.
NDT qualifications (advantageous / added value).
Experience
Oil & Gas/Refinery Experience a must
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a QC Inspector.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering fabrication environment.
Valid driver’s license.
General Requirements
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans
