The Piping Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all piping fabrication activities within the workshop, ensuring that production is executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all piping fabrication activities in the workshop, ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, procedures, and schedules.
Ensure piping fabrication, fit-up, and assembly are carried out in accordance with approved isometric drawings, P&IDs, welding procedures (WPS), and applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate inspections, including dimensional checks, visual inspection, NDT, and ensure proper documentation and traceability of materials.
Lead, mentor, and manage pipe fitters, welders, and related personnel to maintain productivity, workmanship quality, and safety standards.
Plan and allocate resources efficiently, monitor fabrication progress, and provide feedback to project teams regarding performance, bottlenecks, and constraints.
Ensure materials are correctly identified, handled, and controlled in line with project requirements and quality standards.
Enforce HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture within the piping team.
Technical Support & Problem Solving: Assist in resolving technical piping fabrication issues, including fit-up discrepancies, tolerance challenges, and non-conformance matters.
Qualifications / Experience:
Educational background:
Trade qualification (e.g., Pipe Fitter / Boilermaker) or equivalent technical certification.
Years of experience: 5+ years of piping fabrication experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory capacity.
Industry knowledge: Experience in fabrication workshops, oil & gas, energy, marine, or high-pressure piping environments is essential.
Technical knowledge:
Strong understanding of piping fabrication processes
Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings
Knowledge of piping materials, tolerances, and dimensional control
Familiarity with welding practices related to piping and associated NDT requirements
Computer literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Additional skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple work fronts simultaneously.
