Job Purpose:
Perform and oversee preheating and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) of various pipes and equipment according to Company, Quality and Client standards.
Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills :
· Preheating and PWHT of pipes ranging from different diameters and various thicknesses.
· Prepare heat bands and thermocouple placement for the pre-heat of piping welds.
· Setup all leads to heat stress equipment.
· Monitor preheat chart during welding operations and adjust equipment as needed.
· Provide documentation (heat treatment temperature charts) to Quality personnel & management for inclusion into weld package.
· Reads and interprets instructions, documentation and engineering drawings.
· Selection of appropriate equipment and plan the layout of PWHT processes.
· Coordinating with other PWHT Technicians and placing resources to jobs.
· Identify problems (fault finding) and advise on possible appropriate actions to reduce PWHT defects, and job inaccuracies.
· Act as Working team lead where required.
· Training of 3CM PWHT techs
· Controlling and maintaining PWHT equipment
· Willingness to deploy to sites offshore.
· Willingness to learn Pressure Testing.
· Willingness to do other Semi-Skilled tasks as they arise and are needed.
· Providing input for any PWHT enquiries.
· Report cost saving measures to management.
· Follow oral and written direction as required by management, and perform all other related tasks as assigned from time to time.
· Observe the functioning of PWHT, to determine safety hazards and need for adjustments, refitting or replacement.
· Ensure work areas are at all times neat and tidy.
· Ensure all equipment and consumables are accounted for and stored and maintained in the proper manner.
· Observe and follow all safety regulations and report all accidents and near misses to management.
· Complies with the OHS ACT 85 of 1993 and all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by company requirements.
Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience :
· Possess Formal PWHT Technical Certification.
· 4 – 5 years’ experience as a PWHT Technician in the Heat Treatment Industry.
· Good understanding of English and Mathematics to control heating / cooling rates.
· Be able to work away from home for the company.
· Keen interest in the PWHT Environment.
· Ability to work with others to achieve job goals.
· Be able to communicate, read and write effectively in the English language.
