We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and skilled Welding & Dimensional Inspector Trainee to join our dynamic team and ensure the highest standards of quality in our operations.
Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills
- Exposure to the interpretation and evaluation of welding quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Gain in-depth understanding and interpretation of Approved for Fabrication (AFC) drawings.
- Exposure to the reliance and incorporation of codes of construction, client requirements and/or statutory requirements when evaluating welding quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Learning on the job from the qualified and appointed welding inspector as well as the dimensional.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure they meet specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges to measure dimensions.
- Verify that parts conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and standards in terms of as build dimensions.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of measurements and findings.
- Identify and report non-conformances and work with the production team to resolve issues.
- Perform inspections at various stages of the manufacturing process, including receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
- Conduct pre-welding inspections to verify that parent materials and consumables meet WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) requirements.
- Perform visual inspection on completed welds using adequate tooling to determine and quantify defects.

Profile
Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience
Knowledge of steel fabrication processes (e.g., plasma cutting, welding, grinding, etc.).
Experience as a Boilermaker or Welder will be advantages. Education in the engineering field of study will be advantages.
