Cinco Engineering (based in Cape Town Harbour) is recruiting for an HSE Coordinator.
Job Purpose
To implement, monitor, maintain and continually improve the ISO 45001:2018 HSE management systems. The HSE Co-ordinator will be responsible for providing safety support to the management team, supervisors, team leaders, workers and, where required, project teams.
This position will provide leadership and co-ordination of the day-to-day safety requirements of the workshop and on-site projects according to company, client and legal safety standards.
Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management:
- Implement and maintain ISO 45001:2018 compliance, including audits and safety assurance activities.
- Provide HSE support to projects through site visits, coaching, and mentoring.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and inform management of any changes.
- Develop and maintain a Safety Management Plan (SMP) for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Conduct audits, incident investigations, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Manage safety staff, first aid coverage, and ensure employee induction and training compliance.
- Oversee safety obligations for client projects and maintain relevant documentation.
- Lead external audits and ensure safety expectations are communicated and understood.
- Coordinate safety meetings and maintain safety boards and HSE manuals.
Buildings, Facility, and Equipment Management:
- Oversee the company’s security systems, flammable stores, and hazardous waste management.
- Manage building facilities and scrapping/waste procedures.
Other:
- Participate in rigging control, safety committee, safety walkabouts, and other safety-related initiatives.
Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience
- Matric.
- Minimum 5-year Health, Safety and Environmental field experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Incident investigation.
- Internal auditing of management systems.
- Third party and certification audits.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
- The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
- Medically fit and in good physical condition.
- Availability to travel.
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Certificate e.g. SAMTRAC; Nebosh.
- Knowledge of Cinco’s Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Beneficial/ Advantage
- Registered with SACPCMP.'
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard clausal requirements.
- ISO 9001:2015 and/ or IMS introduction, implementation, internal auditing.
- Experience and proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001, ISO45001 and/or Integrated Management Systems.
